I have been asked by several concerned people the questions, "Why are you not in Argentina? and "Why are you in Virginia?" I wrote this post to hopefully answer these questions and shed some light on the current situation.
As many of you know I was sick a few times in Argentina. Thank you everyone for your prayers and words of encouragement. When I left Argentina on November 30th I was getting over strep throat, a sinus infection and food poisoning.
I went to the doctor a few days before I was supposed to return to Argentina (return date jan. 4th) for the purpose of asking my doctor if she could write me any prescriptions to take back to Argentina in case I got sick again over there. I mentioned to the doctor that I had never fully regained all of my energy after being sick. She wrote a few prescriptions but also said she wanted to run some blood work since I had been out of the country. I honestly did not expect anything to come back in the lab results, so I was shocked to find out that my CO2 levels were elevated and my sodium levels was borderline. We went back to the doctor a week later and reran all of my blood work along with several other tests because of the elevated levels, edema and possibly an enlarged spleen. All of the tests have come back negative except my CO2 blood levels are still elevated.
CO2 levels are elevated because of an underlying condition and are lowered when the underlying condition is identified. High CO2 levels over a long period of time can be detrimental to your vital organs. Please pray specifically that the doctors will be able to find out what is causing elevated levels in my blood.
The doctor told me that she does not want me to return to Argentina. The airline company refunded my plane ticket, such a blessing! I am currently talking with Palabra de Vida to see what they can do about my tuition.
You are probably wondering, “What are you going to do next?” It is my hope to get a job soon. I am waiting until we figure out exactly what is going on with my body. I am also praying for clarity as to whether I should spend two years at community college or study at a university. I have about a week to decide…lol… I will continue to study Spanish wherever I land and it is my hope that God will open another similar opportunity to do what I was doing before in the future.
I know that God has a purpose in every event that takes place in our lives. He never shuts one door without guiding you through another.
I appreciate everything that you have done for me! Your friendship means the world to me. I am truly blessed!
